I work with adults, parents, women, men, gender non-conforming people, people in the LBGTQIA+ community, and blended families who have ongoing challenges with depression and anxiety, difficulty calming down, experienced tough stuff in their childhood, experiencing shame around different feelings, and may have trouble communicating in their relationships.

My goal is to help you stop feeling overwhelmed and depressed, getting burnt out, dwelling on negative thoughts, living life at a frenzied pace, or feeling like you are moving through life on autopilot and start encouraging you to see healing and transformation as possible, empower you to make big changes, help you get back to living life, help you make progress towards your goals, help you feel present in your own life, and checking in with you as we go to ensure we’re on track towards positive change.

My Approach to Therapy

I bring non-judgmental acceptance and presence to sessions as well as warmth and understanding, an open mind, flexibility in world views to sessions, and a sense of humor. As a therapist, I can:

  • Reflect people’s thoughts back to them.

  • Help people feel comfortable.

  • Sense what other people may be thinking or feeling.

  • Be flexible on the path of discovering what’s going on.

I enjoy guiding people towards positive changes, helping people become healthier, more empowered, and more present in their lives. I love helping my clients and watching them transform their lives over time, witnessing them achieve more fulfilling lives and helping them find a lightness to everyday living. The most rewarding thing about being a therapist is seeing a person walk away lighter, freer, and excited about their life, providing encouragement during life’s challenges, and celebrating when my clients make progress.

Sessions with me provide you with the space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals, to check in with yourself, and to feel what you need to feel. I also provide a space for you to be in touch with yourself, to be understood and heard, and to focus on yourself without feeling selfish, so that you'll be able to gain clarity, explore your thoughts, feelings and goals, and to be understood and heard. It's important to me to provide a non-judgmental space where you can be yourself and to create safety within our sessions.

At Essential Insights Counseling Center, there isn’t a “one size fits all” approach to therapy.

My approach to therapy is providing a non-judgmental space for people to verbally express how they are feeling. I offer a safe and calm place to listen to these feelings and explore them. I may challenge conflicting feelings with the intention to explore the differences and help untangle conflicting thoughts or feelings. My role is to walk alongside you and explore what you are experiencing together to help you reach your goals.

“Being able to be your true self is one of the strongest components of good mental health.”

― Lauren Fogel Mersy

As a Therapist, I Embrace the Following Philosophies:

  • I believe that emotions heal when they are witnessed and validated.

  • I believe that you are strong enough to be present with what you may be going through.

  • I believe that we can do hard things, like going to therapy, and we can live better for it.

  • I believe that we can stop feeling shame when we tell our story with someone who can hear it with empathy and understanding.

  • I believe you are the expert on your own life and hold the solutions- they just need to be uncovered.

My Professional Background

I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of North Florida and my master’s degree in social work from Florida State University. I’ve worked in child welfare, with individuals experiencing homelessness, and as a clinical case manager blending clinical modalities with community resources. I’ve worked with a wide range of individuals in their home and in communities where I have gotten extensive experience working with the person in their environment, giving me experience to know how symptoms of mental health impact everyday life.
