About Us

Essential Insights Counseling Center is dedicated to providing hope, wellness, and healing to people in our community of Hudson, MA and throughout Massachusetts. It is our belief that mental health is essential to well-being and all people should be valued, accepted, and empowered.

We strive to honor and respect the uniqueness of each person we work with, and to create an environment that is culturally sensitive, inclusive and accessible to all. Through compassionate and evidence-based therapies, we seek to promote a positive sense of self and self-esteem, help clients maximize their enjoyment of life, increase engagement in healthy behaviors, and identify a client’s sense of meaning and purpose in life.

Committed to Helping - Our Story

Essential Insights Counseling Center was founded by Dr. Jennifer Warkentin in 2021 to provide a supportive and safe environment for clients and therapists alike to thrive and grow. She has been dismayed to see the trend of large, national corporations buying out counseling practices in Massachusetts, and she sees the value in a community-based practice that is owned and operated by a mental health professional who will prioritize care over profits.

Dr. Warkentin recognized the need for mental health services within her community of Hudson, MA and for many of the surrounding towns. While larger towns and communities closer to Boston offer a wide selection of counseling centers for clients to choose from, Hudson did not have any counseling centers that were dedicated solely to mental health care. When Dr. Warkentin came upon the opportunity to rent office space at The Landing at Hudson Mills, a recently renovated mill building just blocks from downtown Hudson, all the pieces fell into place.

We are thrilled to be able to provide greater access to in-person and telehealth mental health services for Hudson and our surrounding communities.

It's our mission to help clients to achieve physical, mental and emotional wellness by providing quality, personalized mental health services delivered with integrity and compassion.

At Essential Insights Counseling Center, our core values form the foundation of our work and how we conduct our business.
Here are the values that guide us:

  1. Inclusivity

We strive to honor and respect the uniqueness and dignity of all persons, and to create an environment that is culturally sensitive, inclusive, and accessible to all.  We promote the autonomy and self-determination of our clients, without judgment, and tailor our approach to suit their individual needs, capabilities, and wishes.

2. Collaboration

We are committed to collaboratively helping all clients to achieve their goals, experience positive outcomes, and learn lasting skills.  We are also committed to helping the families and caregivers of our clients through education, support, advice, and collaborative care.

3. Accessibility

We believe that quality mental health care should be accessible to all who need it, and not limited to those who can afford it or those with flexible daytime schedules. We support this mission by contracting with health plans and providing evening appointment times to accommodate clients without daytime availability.

4. Professionalism

We observe professional and ethical standards, apply best practice principles, and conduct ourselves in a professional and ethical manner.  We also strive to deliver a professional service and maintain a professional practice setting for the benefit of our staff, clients, and visitors.

5. Competence

We strive for professional competence and are continually developing our professional skills and knowledge through further education, supervision, feedback, and self-reflection. We also recognize and work within our limits of competence and only provide services where we have adequate training and experience.

6. Support

We believe that people do their best work in an environment that is genuinely encouraging, caring, and supportive.  We have a moral and ethical responsibility to support our clinicians and staff through promoting self-care, sustainable caseloads, and healthy work-life boundaries.

Essential Insights Counseling Center values our clinicians and staff and recognize that all of them are critical to our ability to deliver high-quality services and achieve positive outcomes.

“Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start.”
