I’m an Associate Mental Health Counselor who works with young adults and adults who have ongoing challenges with depression and anxiety, difficulty calming down, challenging childhood experiences, and issues of meaning and purpose in life.

My goal is to help you stop feeling overwhelmed and depressed and start living a life that suits your deeper hopes and dreams.

My Approach to Therapy

I bring warmth, an open mind, and flexibility to my work. As a therapist, I can:

  • Reflect people’s thoughts back to them

  • Uncover what’s under the surface

  • Sense what other people may be thinking and feeling

I enjoy guiding people towards positive changes. For me, the most rewarding thing about being a therapist is knowing that I had a part in helping someone else transform their life.

Sessions with me will provide you with the space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and goals and to be in touch with yourself. It’s important to me to provide a non-judgmental space where you can figure things out about yourself and feel what you need to feel.

At Essential Insights Counseling Center, there isn’t a “one size fits all” approach to therapy.

I approach therapy as a relationship between two human beings. I, as the therapist, bring my life experience and studies, while my client brings their self-knowledge and curiosity. Together, we form a relationship where discovery and transformation can unfold.

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”

― Elizabeth Appell

As a Therapist, I Embrace the Following Philosophies:

  • I believe that emotions heal when they are witnessed and validated

  • I believe that survivors are not what happened to them

  • I believe that even if we feel like we’ve lost hope, it’s possible to show up, commit to ourselves, and do what it takes to start feeling better

My Professional Background

I completed my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling at Boston College. My training program emphasized relational, cognitive-behavioral, and psychodynamic frameworks. I completed my internship experience at Lasell University, where I developed a passion for adolescent/young-adult mental health. Since then, I have worked in Boston’s South End at Northeast Health Services, where I honed my skills in providing therapy to adults and children of various mental health challenges. As a former undergraduate student in philosophy, I take an existential/humanistic approach to my practice, placing my clients in the driver’s seat in our work together, and promoting this relationship to life. I have pursued further training in psychoanalytic and existential therapeutic approaches beyond my graduate studies, as I am interested in helping my clients to access and respond from the depths of their experience.

Jackson is an Associate Mental Health Counselor, which means that he has completed all of the required education and training for his master’s degree in mental health counseling. He is now completing his required 2 years of supervised work experience, after which he’ll be eligible to apply for licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and he could then practice independently. During his supervised work experience at Essential Insights Counseling Center, Jackson is being supervised by Andrew Sullivan, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
